NEW
GROUP 31 HIGH POWER / DEEP CYCLE
SEALED VRLA BATTERY FROM ODYSSEY( / ENERSYS EXTENDS SERVICE LIFE,
PROVIDES MORE CRANKING POWER
ODYSSEY Batteries of EnerSys Inc. Reserve Power Group has introduced a new Group
31-size deep cycle sealed valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) battery that provides
a service life 3-4 times longer than typical wet cell batteries currently available.
The ODYSSEY PC 2150 military grade battery provides up to 70% more starting power
at low temperatures, making it ideal for heavy duty, deep cycle applications
such as over the road trucks, fire trucks, buses, construction equipment, refrigerated
trailers, and RV-motor coaches as well as marine applications.
Using pure-lead technology, the new ODYSSEY PC 2150 lasts up to 10 years in engine-start
operation versus 2-3 years as compared to similar batteries. Has solid starting
power after 12 months in storage (with no parasitic storage loads applied), and
a 2-year storage life at room temperature (recharge required to return to active
service). Additionally, the battery's thin plate technology provides greater
cranking power, especially effective at cold temperatures. For example, the PC
2150 has 70% more starting power at -4oF (-20oC) than wet cell batteries, and
can start vehicles at temperatures as low as -20oF (-29oC).
The ODYSSEY PC 2150's sealed Drycell construction prevents external venting,
which eliminates terminal corrosion and results in high charge acceptance, increasing
a vehicle's alternator and starter lifespan. Also due to its sealed construction,
the PC 2150 is certified non-spillable by US DOT and IATA for unrestricted, safe
shipping and can be mounted and operated in any position. ODYSSEY is explosion
proof with years of safe operation.
The battery employs a rugged military construction; the same design used in armored
vehicles, that offers improved vibration resistance and durability, while providing
high performance operation. This durability is backed by a limited 4-year full
warranty against premature failure due to factory defects material or workmanship,
the longest warranty available in the industry. The new 12-volt ODYSSEY PC 2150
Group 31 battery performance specifications include cold cranking amps (CCA)
of 1,090 A at 0oF (-18oC), cranking amps (CA/MCA) of 1,370 A at 32oF (0oC), and
hot cranking amps (HCA) of 1,545 A at 80oF (27oC). The five second cold and hot
cranking amp rates are 1,500 A at 0oF (-18oC) and 2,150 A at 80oF (27oC). The
battery features a reserve capacity of 200 minutes, and a deep cycle capability
of 400 cycles at 80% depth of discharge (DOD).
The battery weighs 75 lbs. (34 kg), is 13.0" L x 6.8" W x 9.4" H (330.2 mm x
172.7 mm x 238.8 mm), and comes standard with 3/8" (9.5 mm) corrosion-free stud
terminals, a suitcase lifting handle, and an oil resistant plastic container
and cover.
The new ODYSSEY PC2150 has a MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price) $294.95,
but check your local dealer - distributor for local pricing.
Installation of the ODYSSEY PC 2150 for house light applications in motor homes
requires proper sizing. Motor homes have used golf cart type batteries that range
from 150 to 225Ah. The PC 2150 is 100Ah, so paralleling might be required to
match equivalent storage capacity. It is suggested that no more than (4) PC 2150
(400Ah) be connected in parallel to a single charger system to assure balanced
recharge currents to all batteries. Compare published cycle life ratings as well
to understand cycle life expectancy of the PC 2150 compared to other high cycle
life batteries such as golf cart types.
